Pubs & Bars
Krakow has the highest density of drinking establishments of any Polish city: the choice of bars ranges from old style dives where usually only working class Poles go (though they are perfectly safe and much cheaper that other more upscale places) to very noisy and flashy places that attract a young crowd. Many of the most atmospheric bars are located on or near the main town square in medieval vaulted cellars, and fortunately smoking was banned in most bars and restaurants as of November 2010, so the air quality has improved immensely in these underground haunts. Locals and students prefer the bars and pubs of Kazimierz as this area for years was neglected but now has become the nightlife center of the city.
