Restaurants

After Warsaw, Krakow offers the best and most diverse selection of restaurants in Poland, and offerings continue to improve. If you'd like to eat some wholesome, inexpensive, and authentic Polish food, look out for places called "Bar Mleczny" or "Jadłodajnia". These are very basic cafeteria style establishments that offer simple fare at very low prices, just don't expect sophisticated decor or ambience. For a more atmospheric Polish culinary experience, try places with the word "Karczma" in the name, usually such places are inspired by old Polish inns and peasant cottages. When and if you've had enough of Polish cooking, Krakow offers a fine selection of Italian, Japanese, French restaurants, and a smattering of other European cuisines.
