Rentals
For most visitors to Krakow, a car is hardly necessary since most sights are within walking distance of each other, and cars are generally not allowed in the Old Town without a special permit. And parking in and around the city center is hard to find. But a car may come in handy for those who would like to visit small towns and villages in the region. All the major car rental companies have offices at the airport, or just ask at a local travel agency. In the Old Town and Kazimierz, it is very easy to rent a bicycle for an hour or a day to explore the city more efficiently than on foot. During the summer months it's also possible to rent a kayak or paddle boat along the Vistula River, or hire a water tram to take you to the Tyniec Benedictine monastery, located about 10km west of Krakow along the river.
